Now that I've gone back to my days of being a full-time stay at home Mommy, laundry is no longer a dreaded task. For me, it's my only source of income! Just last week, I was paid $6! Yay me! I can't wait until my children are older and I can earn from them as well! They've only recently discovered they have pockets on their clothing, and sadly, the washer and dryer were the first to find out their discovery of pockets.
After washing a load of the kids laundry a couple weeks back, I stopped the dryer just a few moments after starting it, to find out what all the clanking was about. It took longer than anticipated, because nothing was freely spinning, it had to be something in someone's pockets. You would know that on the LAST pair of pants checked, I would find a golf ball and five rocks lodged tightly in one pocket. (Nate's pocket, of course!) For the life of me, I don't know how he got the golf ball in his small pocket, because I almost couldn't get it out! Thankfully, I caught this "surprise" before it made too big of a mess with the washer and dryer!
It's safe to say, I need to check pockets now before I start their laundry!
It's also safe to say that as Christians, we should keep a check on our hearts daily! Present your heart to the Lord daily, and ask Him to search it! He may find things in there that need to be dealt with before they end up ruining others or making an even bigger mess! Sometimes we suppress the sin we allow to come into our lives so much that we "forget about it", but He knows. Ask Him each day to search your heart and expose "the good, the bad, and the ugly" to you, in order for you to make a change! You never know what you'll find! And then...after you work through those offensive ways that seemed to have crept into your heart, allow Him to lead you in the way everlasting!
Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
What's one of the craziest things you've found while doing laundry?
Messy Monday Link up!
Monday's
don't always have to be messy! They CAN BE beautiful! I would be honored if you would Link up any of
your personal favorite posts from this past week, or you may want to
post about a beautiful mess of your own. Let's share from the abundance
of our
hearts and rejoice with one another!Linked with:
Lol. My rule is, I do not clean pockets. If I find any cash, it is mine! :) I have washed more DS games and legos than I can count.
ReplyDeleteI love the analogy you use here. We need to constantly empty and wash our hearts before God. So true.
I just knew this would be good. Some days, it's hard telling what I"ll find in the dryer. Don't you wish there was a washing machine for the heart? I've often thought this as I go through the "treasures" I find during the wash.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know... I find the oddest things in my sons pockets! The worst thing I washed was silly putty... doesn't come out :( Thanks for this wonderful encouragement to check our hearts Lindsay. I am grateful for His love and conviction for what He often finds there! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteAh, the bizarre collection of things I've found in the washer over the years... lol
ReplyDeleteThe most shocking would have to be the handful of live .22 caliber bullets that came from a jacket that had been passed down to our boys from a friend's son. Needless to say, it caught me a little off guard. :-) Thankfully, I found them before my son wore the jacket to school!
Have a Blessed Day!
