Dispelled Mommy Myth

I crept in the girl's room this morning to pry Bella from bed, and prayed not to wake Marleigh.

Lifting her out of bed felt like lifting my leg out of a knee-deep mud bath!

She was NOT ready to wake up!

Usually she's easy-going in the mornings, but Thursday mornings are always difficult. Coming in from church on Wednesday nights, an hour past our usual bedtime, always seems to pose a problem for the next morning.

I gently coaxed her awake and persuaded her to make it to the table for breakfast.
Not without her fair share of grumbling and complaining.

I'm NOT a fan of whining, yet I still tried to handle her with love, not wanting to get the whole morning "off track".

She offered me many excuses about how she just wanted to sleep a few minutes longer! One after the other, my answer was constant; "You can't always get what you want!"(in the form of song)!

Despising my enthusiastic answer, she finally spit out what she had been itching to say the entire time, "I wish I were you, 'cause then I could stay in bed  ALL DAY LONG!"

Needless to say, after devotions I added a new word to her vocabulary: MYTH.

I thoroughly dispelled this "Stay at Home Mommy Myth"!

The MYTHBUSTERS are welcome to come sit with my other two kids any ol' day and disclose this truth!

To continue with my list of thanks on this Thankful Thursday, this week, I am most thankful for:

61. the opportunity to "KNOW HIM

62. Disposable diapers (I've had a nice week off from cloth!)

63. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (when I just need to get something done)

64. my marriage to my most wonderful husband :)

65. new glasses for Bella

66. Maya Sutherland has made it safely in the world

67. the promise of eternal life

68. An AWESOME family day on Saturday

69. the gifts God has given me (NOW, to get busy using them for HIM!)

70. EVERYTHING pumpkin flavored (I'm in a pumpkin coma!)

What are you thankful for today?
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!”
~ Psalm 100:4 (ESV)!

  1. I always laugh when people say sahms just sit around and do nothing all day. I am on my feet working hard for twelve hours a day. No easy task, let me tell ya! I kept telling my husband I am going to call Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs to come to my house for a day. :)

  2. Oh, SAHM is so rewarding but so hard. I feel like my home is grand central station, and my job is to keep it running but I have 50lb. weights around each ankle and when I'm babysitting 15mnth old baby Rees and additional extremely fragile, suicidal 50lb weight keeping me from being able to maintain the station :)

  3. Definitely not the case for a SAHM. I wish I could stay in bed all day. ;)

  4. Yeah... sleeping all day... I wish! If it weren't for the guilt and the laundry pile up I'd give it a try :) Good job dispelling the myth mom! Love your thankful list and I very much enjoyed your topic "knowing Him" this week, one of my favorites! Blessings!

  5. I am not a stay at home Mommy, but the ones I know most certainly do not stay in the bed all day long. I know some who wish they could, but duty calls :)

  6. When our children were born, Shannon spent the first five years plus as a SAHM... I know first hand what that entails, and have amazing respect for those who take on that Blessed position.

    Have a Blessed Day!
